- What is a photo shoot like and where will it be?
Photos are shot on location, either at your home, a local park or any other site you feel is most comfortable for your family. Sessions usually take about 45 minutes depending on the number of people in the photo, however we work at your pace. If your child needs a break, we take a break.
- What should I wear?
A simple, classic look is great for a timeless photo. Years ago it was popular to wear white shirts and khaki pants...that has gone by the wayside and color is in! Even patterns are fun! There's a lot more personality you can add to your portraits! I would avoid shirts with distracting logos or images on the front...we want to draw attention to you and your bright smiles! Start with a neutral color like browns or grays and add some color. For example, browns with a splash of cranberry & orange... grays/blacks with a splash of red... navy with a splash of yellow or turquoise (or both!). You really can't go wrong! By mixing-and-matching, you can probably find clothes already in your closet.
- What should I bring?
When photographing babies and small children, feel free to bring a favorite toy that might help comfort them. We welcome any personal items you may want included in a photo, like a favorite stuffed animal, family heirloom rattle, or mom’s floppy hat.
- When is the best time for photos?
Generally, early morning and late afternoon provide more flattering lighting. The high sun of mid-day can cast harsh shadows on our subjects. However, smaller children may be better scheduled according to their “happy” times.
- How does payment work?
The sitting fee is due when the pictures are taken. Any additional costs for reprints or cards are invoiced when the work is completed.
- How long does it take to see proofs? To get finished portraits?
Proofs are made available through the web site within one week and remain accessible for 21 days. Once an order is placed, portraits are usually processed within two weeks and shipped to your house via whichever shipping method you choose.
- What if I need to reschedule?
If something comes up and you need to reschedule, please call at least 24 hours in advance.
